In one last red-and-gold splash, Emirates airlines celebrated the new nonstop service between Orlando and Dubai with a gala in downtown Orlando Wednesday. Wednesday's gala featured early performances by the Wynwood String Trio and the Eclipse dance company.
The second half of the program, the rebirth of Armenia, was filled with a plethora of show stopping moments. One beautiful performance would be followed by another. Saints’ Eyes dedicated to the Genocide Victims, was accompanied by special guests Sean Blackman, guitar, and Linda Hagopian on flute, along with Megan Chartier, cello.
Cellist Megan Chartier really dug into the first section of Schumann’s Cello Concerto, unafraid to display gutsy abandon. With a moderate-sized tone, Chartier brought out the score’s dark sadness and soulful melodies...Chartier’s reading was so compelling and personal that one wanted to hear the entire score. Nowak provided strong support while underlining the score’s agitated undercurrents.
