The Cal Poly Cello Studio, under the direction of Megan Chartier, presents “A Gift to Friendship,” a recital celebrating the expressive range of the cello and the musical community it inspires. The evening will be filled with solo and chamber performances by members of the studio, including Popper’s “Requiem” for three cellos and piano, Grieg’s “Holberg Suite” arranged for cello ensemble. The program will culminate with Villa-Lobos’ beloved “Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5,” featuring Cal Poly faculty soprano Amy Goymerac in a radiant collaboration with the cello ensemble. Framed by an original poem accompanying the requiem, the recital reflects on connection, collaboration and the shared joy of music—inviting audiences to join in this warm celebration of artistry and friendship.
